FAQs
What is coaching?
Coaching is a collaborative process that helps you gain clarity, increase self-awareness, and move towards meaningful goals. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, coaching helps you explore your thoughts, beliefs, values, strengths, and options so you can make decisions that feel right for you.
What is Positive Psychology?
Positive Psychology is the scientific study of what helps people thrive. Rather than focusing only on problems, it explores areas such as strengths, resilience, wellbeing, meaning, purpose, relationships, optimism, and personal growth.
My coaching is informed by evidence-based Positive Psychology research and practical coaching approaches.
What is the difference between coaching, counselling, and therapy?
Coaching focuses on the present and future, helping you build awareness, develop practical strategies, and create meaningful change.
Counselling and therapy often explore emotional difficulties, mental health concerns, past experiences, and psychological healing in greater depth.
While there can be some overlap, coaching is not a substitute for counselling, psychotherapy, or medical treatment.
Who is coaching for?
Coaching may be helpful if you are:
- Feeling stuck or uncertain about your next steps
- Looking for more meaning, purpose, or direction
- Struggling with confidence or self-belief
- Experiencing stress, overwhelm, or burnout
- Going through a life or career transition
- Wanting to understand yourself more deeply
- Looking to improve your wellbeing and quality of life
Can I have coaching if I have a mental health condition?
Some people who have diagnosed mental health conditions may still benefit from coaching, particularly when focusing on wellbeing, strengths, confidence, goals, or personal growth.
However, coaching is not a replacement for therapy, counselling, psychiatric care, or medical treatment. If your needs fall outside the scope of coaching, I may recommend seeking support from an appropriate healthcare professional.
What do you NOT coach on?
Coaching is not suitable for:
- Mental health crisis support
- Active suicidal thoughts
- Trauma treatment
- Eating disorder treatment
- Addiction treatment
- Psychiatric assessment or diagnosis
- Crisis intervention
Where appropriate, I may encourage you to seek support from a qualified healthcare or mental health professional.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
A free discovery call gives us an opportunity to explore what you are looking for, answer any questions you may have, and discuss whether coaching feels like the right fit for your needs.
Are sessions online or in person?
Most coaching sessions are delivered online, allowing me to work with clients across the UK and internationally.
In-person coaching, workshops, and wellbeing programmes may also be available in selected locations.
Do you work with clients internationally?
Yes. I work with clients worldwide through online coaching and have experience supporting individuals from a range of cultural backgrounds.
I also travel internationally for selected workshops, wellbeing programmes, and events.
How many coaching sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person. Some clients benefit from a small number of sessions focused on a specific goal, while others prefer a longer coaching journey to explore deeper themes such as identity, values, wellbeing, confidence, meaning, and purpose.
We can discuss what feels most appropriate during your discovery call.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Coaching conversations are treated as confidential, subject to legal, ethical, and safeguarding obligations. Full details are outlined in the coaching agreement provided before we begin working together.
What approach do you use?
My approach combines Positive Psychology, Coaching Psychology, strengths-based coaching, values exploration, wellbeing science, and evidence-based coaching practices.
The focus is not simply on solving problems, but on helping you understand yourself more deeply and create sustainable, meaningful change.
